Nothing is as annoying as itching, red spots or irritated skin after putting on your favorite sweater. For people with eczema, an allergy to perfumes, or for parents with newborn babies, 'safe washing' is priority number one.
At Lavoa, mildness is key. Our Scent Free laundry strips are a bestseller for a reason. But what if you still want that wonderful scent experience? In this blog, we discuss whether scent boosters are compatible with sensitive skin.
What's in a scent booster?
Scent boosters (also known as laundry beads), unlike detergents, are not cleaning agents. They do not contain active washing agents (surfactants) or enzymes, which are often the culprits behind skin irritations. The beads are purely developed as scent carriers.
Because the scent boosters dissolve completely in the water during washing and release their aroma into the fibers, no 'harsh' particles remain in the clothing. However, they naturally contain perfume concentrates to guarantee that long-lasting freshness.
Tips for sensitive skin
Do you have sensitive skin, but still want to experience the luxurious feel of the new Lavoa scent boosters? Then use these 3 tips:
-
Dose in moderation: The great thing about our scent boosters is that you are in control. Start with a very small amount (e.g., a quarter capful) to see how your skin reacts. Often, a subtle hint is enough.
-
Focus on 'indirect' textiles: Initially, mainly use the beads for items that are not constantly in direct contact with the most sensitive parts of your skin. Think of your bedding, towels, or curtains. This way, you can enjoy the scent in your home without direct skin contact.
-
Combine with Scent Free: Use our hypoallergenic Scent Free laundry strips as the base for cleaning and add the scent boosters for the aroma. This way, you keep the base of your laundry routine 100% mild and only add scent where you prefer it.
What about baby clothes?
Baby skin is extra thin and sensitive. Therefore, we recommend using only our Scent Free laundry strips for the very young (up to 6 months). Once you notice that your child reacts less sensitively, you can slowly introduce some scent by adding a few scent boosters to, for example, sheets or hydrophilic cloths.
Scent boosters are a fantastic way to brighten up your laundry routine, but with sensitive skin, 'listening to your body' is the most important advice. Thanks to the control over the dosage, you can decide for yourself at Lavoa where the line is between comfort and wonderfully smelling laundry.
